Speaker Break-In

I just set-up my new speakers and they don’t sound quite right. They’re not nearly as impressive as I hoped. What’s the heck is going on?

Don’t panic, that’s normal and everything’s fine. Aurum Cantus speakers have components that are built to very tight tolerances. Therefore, they normally require a fair amount of break-in time for the drivers to loosen up and reach their optimum performance. Figure roughly 80 to 100 hours of break-in time before they are functioning at their best. As a recommendation, try playing your FM tuner (or CD-Player, Music Server, etc.) at low to moderate levels for 6 – 8 hours a day and then play the speakers at listening levels for an hour or so each day until you hear the improvement and are satisfied with the results.

NOTE: you don’t have to play your new speakers exceedingly loud to achieve the desired results. Keep in mind that if you have added other new components (cables, amplifiers, sources, etc.) to the audio chain, they may also require a break-in period.
